Citytv and BT looking for most talented living-room performers in new contest

TORONTO — Citytv and Breakfast Television announced Monday they will hold a month-long contest to find Canada’s most talented family, as a lead-up to this summer’s season 15 premiere of America’s Got Talent, which will air exclusively in Canada on Citytv and Citytv Now.

As part of the new contest, Canadian Family’s Got Talent presented by Canadian Tire, Citytv is inviting Canadians to showcase their unique talents alongside their families, closest companions or support networks — from the comfort of their own living rooms — for a chance to win thousands of dollars in cash and prizes.

Select Canadian Family’s Got Talent entries will be featured daily on the expanded national hour of Breakfast Television Canada from May 1 to 14, and then posted online for voting between May 14 to 19. The contest will culminate on Tuesday, May 26 when Simon Cowell, creator of America’s Got Talent, will judge the three finalists live on Breakfast Television Canada, alongside hosts Dina Pugliese and Devo Brown.

“When I heard about this idea, I thought it was brilliant,” said Cowell, in the news release. “In every country in the world there’s always undiscovered talent, and I’m certain there’s plenty to be found in Canada. I can’t wait. This should be a lot of fun.”

“Now more than ever, family is defined by the support networks around us,” added Laura Reiter, executive producer of in-house productions at Citytv. “In launching the Canadian Family’s Got Talent contest, we are celebrating the talents that both make us unique yet unite us during trying times.”

Canadian Family’s Got Talent entries can be submitted online at breakfasttelevision.ca until May 13. Full contest details are available here.
