City’s ‘Seed’ heads Stateside

TORONTO – City original comedy series Seed has been picked up by The CW Network (The CW) for broadcast in the U.S.

The deal was brokered by Entertainment One.  With production scheduled to begin this fall, City has ordered an additional 13 episodes from Vancouver-based Force Four Entertainment.

“City has always believed in Seed, and the partnership with eOne and The CW is a true testament to the incredibly talented creators, crew, and performers who bring this series to life,” said Claire Freeland, Rogers Media’s director of original programming, in the announcement.  “We’re excited to introduce the hilarious and original stories of this quirky family to American viewers.”

From the creative team of Joseph Raso (Zombies & Cheerleaders) and award-winning writer/producer Mark Farrell (This Hour Has 22 Minutes, Made in Canada, Corner Gas), Seed tells the story of Harry (Adam Korson), a single, underachieving bachelor/bartender who reluctantly begins a relationship with three unique and separate recipient families – a laid-back lesbian couple with a nine-year-old son, a neurotically hopeful single mom-to-be, and an uptight, upper-class family with a rebellious teenage daughter – with whom he’ll come to share more than just his DNA.
