SAN JOSE, CA – Cisco said Wednesday that it is acquiring 1 Mainstream, a privately held company that offers a cloud-based video platform designed to launch live and on-demand OTT services to connected devices.  Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Cisco said in a blog post that 1 Mainstream’s technology complements its own new cloud-powered video entertainment solutions, and that the acquisition “will enable service providers, broadcasters and media companies to make their entire channel lineup and content library available to their customers on the internet via their TV, tablet or connected devices, either within the home or on the go.”

1 Mainstream will join Cisco’s service provider video software and solutions cloud engineering group, under SVP and GM Conrad Clemson.

The acquisition is expected to be complete in the second quarter of Cisco’s current fiscal year.
