MONTREAL – Cingular Wireless, the largest mobile carrier in the US, announced today it has selected the OZ Mobile Email Solution from Montreal’s OZ Communications.
As of today, across the Cingular nationwide network, Cingular subscribers can now access their existing AIM Mail, AOL Mail, MSN Hotmail, Yahoo! Mail and SBC Yahoo! Mail e-mail accounts on entry-level (inexpensive) mobile phones. This announcement represents a new trend in the wireless industry that moves beyond corporate e-mail and into the broader, un-addressed mobile consumer e-mail marketplace.
The Cingular Mobile Email solution features portal branded OZ Mobile Email clients that are available as embedded or downloadable applications. The OZ system provides Cingular subscribers with an “intuitive email experience that mirrors that of their PC,” says the press release, making mobile access to e-mail accounts as easy as 1-2-3.
1. Subscribers select the e-mail provider of their choice,
2. Subscribers then sign-in using their existing username and password, and
3. Within seconds they are able to send and receive emails on their mobile devices.
Rather than pushing the entire content of every e-mail to the phone, the OZ solution uses its “SmartDelivery Notification”, which alerts the consumer that a message is in their mailbox. The consumer can then preview the message(s) and decide which e-mails they would like to open and/or delete; thereby eliminating payment for unwanted e-mails.

Mail accounts around the world, and these consumers are rightfully demanding easy and affordable access to their existing e-mail accounts.
