Chum Radio Winnipeg flips formats, talent

WINNIPEG – Radio listeners in Winnipeg received an unexpected surprise over the holidays when Curve 94.3 relaunched as FAB 94•3 Super Hits of the 60s and 70s on Boxing Day.

FAB 94•3 features music from the likes of the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Elton John and Stevie Wonder, from an era that is considered by many to be the single greatest period of musical innovation and creativity that popular music has ever witnessed.

“Winnipeggers spoke, and we listened," said Chris Stevens, VP and GM of CHUM Radio Winnipeg, in the announcement. "We’re thrilled to bring a brand new radio station to our city. FAB 94•3 will feed the musical appetite of a large and passionate demographic, in addition to working closely with our business and community partners.”

The station will also introduce some new talent on January 4 as the familiar morning trio of Beau, Tom and Frazier previously heard on 99.9 BOB FM move to FAB 94•3, and Jay and Andrea, (formerly of Curve 94.3), move to 99.9 BOB FM.

“We’re also excited to keep all the popular morning programs intact,” Stevens continued. “We’re lucky to have two popular morning shows and the station swap allows the teams to be best positioned for success in the appropriate demographics. We’re confident that everyone will be pleased.”
