
TORONTO – David Corey has been hired as program co-ordinator for 104.5 CHUM FM.
He will be responsible for the management of the CHUM FM brand in Toronto, "working to continue CHUM’s leadership in the market through an ever-changing media and consumer landscape," said the press release. Currently, CHUM FM is Canada’s number one FM radio station.
“David brings with him a wealth of radio expertise, great relationships within the music industry and an incredible drive to keep CHUM FM the most listened to radio station in Toronto,” said Rob Farina, vice-president program development. “We conducted a thorough search for the ideal candidate and we could not be more pleased to have David Corey join the CHUM Radio team.”
He comes to CHUM FM from Boston, Mass., where he was the assistant program director/music director at ratings leader, WXKS FM (Kiss 108). In his 22 years at Kiss 108, he worked with some of the best radio program directors in the U.S., says the CHUM release "including John Ivey (now at KIIS FM Los Angeles), Steve Rivers (Z100 New York) and Cadillac Jack, (Kiss 108 /Jammin’ Boston)."
Corey (right) was nominated as music director of the year by industry trade Radio & Records in 1998, 2000, 2002, 2004 and 2005. His career highlights include organizing the hugely successful Kiss FM concerts that featured artists like Mariah Carey, Justin Timberlake, and Nelly Furtado, says the release. "As well as managing Kiss 108, David also was brand manager for Clear Channel’s New England stations, and developed the music programming for the very successful launch of WKTU New York."
He is also an accomplished songwriter and wrote the hit ”If You Were Mine,” performed by Marcos Hernandez which peaked at #19 at the Mediabase Rhythmic chart and went #1 in France and South Africa.
