OTTAWA – Ross Video today announced Chris Lennon has joined the company in the newly created position within the office of the chief technology officer, as director, standards strategy.

Lennon will be working for Ross CTO Troy English and will manage the company’s activities in global standards and trade bodies. Canadian-born and a Colorado resident, he spent several years working at CHCH-TV in Ontario before moving to the U.S. to join a small company called Enterprise Systems Group, which eventually became part of Harris Corporation, where he progressed to CTO group lead.

Lennon has held a variety of leadership positions in the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) and serves as executive director of the Open Services Alliance (OSA), a global industry organization focused on interoperability among microservice oriented media systems. The OSA produced the media industry’s first microservices standards, working closely with SMPTE, in 2020, and continues to lead the way in this rapidly evolving area.

A prolific writer, Lennon has produced a number of white papers, trade publication and technical journal articles, including in the two most recent editions of the NAB Engineering Handbook. He also recently partnered with Clyde Smith to co-author a new book called The Media Workflow Puzzle, providing a comprehensive look at the entire media workflow from start to finish.
