Chilefilms chose Ross equipment for new regional studio hub

OTTAWA — Video production solution provider Ross Video announced today Santiago-based Chilefilms chose Ross equipment when it was building an all-new production facility to service its broadcast customers including ESPN and Fox Sports, which went through a restructuring in Chile after Disney (majority owner of ESPN) bought Fox in 2019.

“We are a complete production services partner in the region,” says Juan Carlos Arriagada Mons, general manager of Chilefilms, in a press release. “We have seven studios, a dedicated post-production department, we offer equipment rental and look after a number of very high-profile international brands. We represent Disney in Chile, for example, and so we need to offer the highest levels of technical and service quality.”

With the restructuring of both ESPN and Fox in Chile, Chilefilms says it saw the need to respond with a new facility that could manage live domestic content for these broadcasters as well as international feeds arriving via satellite which could be regionalized with commercials, local presenters and guests.

Having worked with Ross Video for several years, Chilefilms turned to Ross when choosing equipment for its new regional studio hub, which was completed in the fall of 2020.

The facility’s new control room (pictured) is based around Ross Video’s Carbonite production switcher and Ultrix 12G platform for AV processing, with a range of other Ross signal processing and infrastructure products to help with system configuration and monitoring.

“The most remarkable thing,” says Arriagada Mons, “is that we pulled this whole project together in around fifty days. We had tremendous training and after-sales support from the Ross team, and every deliverable date and deadline was hit. Our customers have been incredibly impressed with the end result and that, ultimately, is what matters most.”
