CHCH-TV names Rick Zamperin as new Morning Live co-anchor

Hamilton’s CHCH-TV announced last week veteran broadcaster Rick Zamperin is joining weekday morning show Morning Live as its new co-anchor.

With more than 30 years of experience in local radio and sports broadcasting, Zamperin is familiar to Hamilton region audiences, having formerly spent nearly 24 years at AM900 CHML where he hosted Good Morning Hamilton before the Corus-owned station was shuttered in August 2024.

He was also recently named as the Hamilton Tiger-Cats’ play-by-play announcer, a role he previously held from 2007-2014.

Zamperin joins Morning Live alongside co-anchor Annette Hamm, weather and traffic specialist Brian Wood, entertainment/adventure reporter Emily Vukovic and reporter Simone Gavros. The co-anchor role on Morning Live opened up when Tim Bolen left earlier this year to join Citytv’s Breakfast Television.

Morning Live has always felt like family to me, even from the other side of the screen,” Zamperin said in a CHCH-TV press release. “I’ve spent my career telling the stories of this region, and now I’m thrilled to wake up with viewers every morning and continue doing what I love — just with a lot more cameras around.”

Zamperin will make his Morning Live debut on Monday, May 12 at 6 a.m. ET.

“Rick and I once shared a police scanner, a notepad, and way too many stale donuts,” co-anchor Hamm said in the press release. “To say I’m thrilled to have him beside me again, this time with better lighting, is an understatement.”

“Rick’s reputation speaks for itself,” said Greg O’Brien, CHCH news director. “He’s trusted, relatable, and deeply rooted in this community. We’re excited to have him bring his knowledge and perspective to our anchor desk as we continue to evolve the show while staying true to what makes Morning Live special.”
