CHCH, Metro 14 nab Canadian rights to Cameron’s ‘Avatar’

TORONTO – Noted as the most ambitious and highest grossing film of all time, Avatar will make its Canadian broadcast television debut on CHCH TV and Montreal’s Métro14 on May 6 at 8:00 pm ET.

Directed by Oscar winner James Cameron, Avatar took four years to produce and is heralded with introducing a new generation of special effects.  It is also recognized as the highest grossing film ever released with estimated box office sales of $2.8 billion to date.

“It’s the biggest television event to hit TV screens in many years, and we’re proud to have the exclusive broadcast rights,” said Romen Podzyhun, CEO of Channel Zero, in the announcement.  “It’s fitting that the Canadian broadcast premiere of Avatar, created by Niagara Region’s own James Cameron, takes place on his hometown TV station CHCH.”
