Channel Zero’s Oscar-nominated shorts hit iTunes next week

TORONTO – Channel Zero’s film distribution arm Ouat Media announced today that the Oscar-nominated short films Pentecost and Raju will be available worldwide on iTunes beginning Tuesday, February 21.

Raju is a 24-minute film set in India about a German couple who meet their adopted son, Raju, for the first time. After the child disappears, the couple set off to look for him—only to find more information about the boy than they wanted to hear. Directed by Max Zähle while at the Hamburg Media School, Raju has been nominated in the category of Best Live Action Short.

Pentecost is an 11-minute Irish comedy about a young boy, Damian, who is forced to serve as an altar boy at an important mass in his local parish. During the mass, he is faced with a difficult choice: conform to the status quo or serve an extended ban from his passion in life… football. Directed by Peter McDonald, Pentecost has also been nominated in the category of Best Live Action Short.

Both short films will be available for download on iTunes beginning Tuesday, February 21, along with—for the first time internationally—the 2007 Oscar-winning live action short film West Bank Story directed by Ari Sandel. The 84th Academy Awards will take place on February 26, 2012.
