CGTV is now GameTV

TORONTO – Insight Sports has decided to re-brand its casino channel and will officially re-name it GameTV on Friday.

The re-branded channel, currently called Casino and Gaming Television Canada, will give viewers a chance to win a variety of prizes every day, simply by tuning in. The re-brand marks a shift in the channel’s its programming away from so much casino and that type of gamming to more reality-show fare, although some staples like poker shows will remain. CGTV was originally launched in October 2005.

As part of its debut, GameTV will award a weekly $1,000 cash prize to one lucky viewer. GameTV is available on digital basic and is offered through all major Canadian television providers. It will debut on Friday, October 26 at 6 p.m. ET.

Promoted with the tag line, “Winners Wanted”, GameTV’s re-branding was developed in conjunction with Loopmedia Inc., a Toronto-based broadcast design and commercial production studio.

“With a never-ending schedule of innovative contests and great prizes, Canadians will have the opportunity to win every day, simply by watching GameTV or visiting www.igametv.com,” said Mark Rubinstein, president of digital media for Insight Sports, in a press release.

One of GameTV’s first interactive contests will be the channel’s Watch & Win promotion. Airing in prime time every evening, Watch & Win provides viewers with the opportunity to tune in for a series of nightly trivia questions. Viewers can then submit their answers online at www.igametv.com to qualify to win the evening’s prize draw.

In addition, every Monday, one winner will be randomly selected to win a weekly grand prize of $1,000 cash.

Among the variety of programs that are set to air on GameTV include Last Comic Standing; America’s Next Producer; Dog Eat Dog; The Rebel Billionaire: Branson’s Quest For The Best; Treasure Hunters; Beg, Borrow & Deal; Acting Crazy; Game On; Joke’s On Us; The Last Word; Love Handle; Love Me, Love Me Not; Mad Dash; The Mole; Supermarket Sweep; Test Pattern; and TimeChase.

Insight Sports also operates two other specialty television networks: GOLTV Canada (www.goltv.ca), a 24-hour soccer network; and WFN: World Fishing Network (www.wfn.tv). The company owns and operates the Grand Slam of Curling, manages Wayne Gretzky’s official website, www.gretzky.com and holds a significant interest in the NHL Network (www.nhlnetwork.ca).
