LAS VEGAS – Huawei has launched its flagship Ascend Mate2 4G at the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show claiming it’s superior to all leading smartphones especially when it comes to battery life. Unfortunately there’s no word yet on pricing or availability.

“It beats its competitors when it comes to battery life, so you can charge your Galaxy Note 3 using the Huawei Ascend Mate 2,” joked Huawei CEO Richard Yu who then displayed a huge graphic of the phone charging a Samsung Galaxy on his CES stage.

Huawei highlighted how the new phone’s power saving technology improves performance by more than 30% compared to other smartphones in its class. Yu claims a full two days power under “typical use” and 12 hours of web surfing. The phone features LTE Cat 4, which promises speeds up to 150mbps.

The phone features a 6.1-inch, 720p IPS screen, long-lasting 4050 mAh battery, their own 1.6GHz quad-core SoC, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, along with a microSD card slotand 5-megapixel front-facing camera (13-megapixel BSI rear-facing camera), and is 9.5mm wide. It’s the successor to the Ascend Mate which was announced last year at CES.

But unlike many smartphones at this CES it is not running Android 4.4 (KitKat) but its proprietary Emotion UI on top of Android 4.3. “Huawei’s Simple UI aids easy customization, perfect for those who like to keep their homescreen simple,” it said in a release. The phone features LTE Cat 4, which promises speeds up to 150mbps.

The company also claimed its 79% screen-to-body ratio is the best on the market. For more, check out the video here.
