
TORONTO – Corus Entertainment announced today the appointment of Mario Cecchini to oversee the company’s radio and conventional television stations in Eastern Ontario.
Cecchini, who was until today Astral Radio’s senior vice-president of sales and marketing, will join Corus on Sept. 2. Previously, he was vice-president of Corus Québec with responsibility for Corus’ Québec radio holdings until he left for Astral in March 2011.

He will also be responsible for the Québec specialty television assets and Ottawa radio stations to be acquired from Bell/Astral, pending CRTC approval of Corus’ agreement announced March 4, 2013.
In returning to Corus, Cecchini will now oversee: CHEX TV, 100.5 KRUZ-FM and THE WOLF 101.5 in Peterborough; Channel 12 Durham; CKWS TV, CKWS-FM and FM96 in Kingston; Variety 104.5 and 101.9 CJSS-FM in Cornwall; and subject to regulatory approval, two Ottawa radio stations, CKQB-FM and CJOT-FM, in addition to Québec specialty television services Télétoon, Télétoon Rétro, Historia and Séries+.
“Mario is a seasoned media executive with extensive experience in the Québec market as well as in the Canadian broadcast sector in general. We look forward to his expertise and leadership in this role as we prepare to enter the Québec specialty television market, pending regulatory approval," said Corus Entertainment president and CEO John Cassaday of the announcement.
Upon approval of Corus’ acquisition of the Québec specialty services, Corus will establish an office in Montréal that will be managed by Cecchini.
Cecchini has also held senior management positions including president and COO of Zoom Media and EVP of Telemedia Radio Ontario.
