TORONTO – Corus Entertainment has named Mario Cecchini as president of Corus Radio, in addition to his current role as president of Corus Média, effective immediately.
Cecchini, pictured, was previously VP of Corus Quebec where he oversaw the turnaround of Corus’ radio operations in that province. On a national level, he was also SVP sales and marketing for Astral Radio, a division of Astral Media; president and COO of Zoom Media; and EVP at Telemedia Radio Ontario.
“With over 25 years in the radio business, Mario’s deep knowledge, experience and leadership abilities, combined with his focus on building great brands, will serve our Radio division well as we continue to evolve and adapt our business to the changing needs and listening habits of our listeners,” said Corus president and CEO Doug Murphy, in the announcement. “We look forward to Mario leading the charge to grow our ratings and ensure that our radio stations continue to lead in their respective markets.”
In April, Cecchini will assume the chair of Canadian Broadcast Sales and will join the Canadian Association of Broadcasters, representing Corus. He also has extensive radio management experience with other industry organizations such as the Bureau of Broadcast Measurement as a board member, and the Radio Marketing Bureau as chair in early 2000.
