SAINT JOHN – After receiving more than 17,000 votes from across the country, the Canadian Cable Systems Alliance (CCSA) has announced the winners of the 2015 Tuned-in Canada: The CCSA Awards.
The contest, designed to celebrate local cable companies, their content and the personalities that make them shine, received more than 130 nominations in the categories of I *heart* customer service; I *heart* public service/community-building efforts; I *heart* local programming — in news, sports and entertainment; and best on-camera community channel personality.
The shortlist of 24 nominees was announced in April and voting closed on May 22. The contest switched to a different online process to register votes this year, using Facebook authentication to secure the once-per-day voting process and to better integrate with social media.
The winners are:
I *heart* customer service
Mascon Cable Systems (BC)
I *heart* community building/public service
Eastlink: Tree Decorating (NS)
I *heart* local programming – best news/issue coverage
Indigdenous Games 2014 – Access Communications (SK)
I *heart* local programming – best sports coverage
Access7 Sports – Access Communications (SK)
I *heart* local programming – best entertainment coverage
Invisible Wall – Access Communications (SK)
I *heart* local programming – best on-camera community channel personality
François Fortin – Derytelecom (QC)
Winners in each category will receive $1,000 to donate to a community charity of their choice, and will be celebrated at CCSA’s annual conference ‘Connect 2015’ scheduled for September 20 – 22 in Mont Tremblant, Quebec.
"We received more than 130 nominations from our members and their subscribers across the country, and as always, their stories were nothing short of inspirational," said CCSA president and CEO Alyson Townsend, in the announcement. "But for us, the best thing is the exposure each and every one of our nominees received over these past few months. Tuned-in Canada is a great platform for celebrating their achievements."
