
That Curling Show returns with new episodes Dec. 28
CBC SPORTS ANNOUNCED today it will have exclusive coverage of the 2022 Canad Inns Mixed Doubles Curling Trials live from Stride Place in Portage la Prairie, MB from Dec. 28 to Jan. 2.
Audiences can watch the Olympic qualifying tournament on cbcsports.ca, the CBC Sports app (available on iOS and Android devices) and CBC Gem.
Live coverage of the event, which will feature 16 teams, “will be led by CBC Sports’ Bruce Rainnie who will deliver the call alongside Olympic Games silver medallist Mike Harris and Olympian and World Champion Joanne Courtney, providing analysis,” a CBC press release says.
The tournament will start with a seven-game round-robin, with the teams playing in two groups of eight. “The top team in each pool following the round-robin will receive a bye in the first round of the playoffs, while the four teams with the next best records, regardless of which pool they were in, will also qualify for the playoffs,” the release says.
Round-robin games will begin Tuesday, Dec. 28 at 10 a.m. ET/7 a.m. PT and end Friday, Dec. 31 at 1:30 p.m. ET/10:30 a.m. PT. The playoffs will begin Dec. 31 at 5 p.m. ET/2 p.m. PT and end on Sunday, Jan. 2 with the semi-final at 10:30 a.m. ET/7:30 a.m. PT and the final at 2:30 p.m. ET/11:30 a.m. PT. For more coverage of the tournament, fans can watch new episodes of the CBC’s digital series That Curling Show, which is hosted by two-time world champion curler Colleen Jones and CBC Sports’ Devin Heroux.
“That Curling Show is the local rink where curlers and fans alike come together – except virtual,” the press release says.
“Throughout the tournament Colleen and Devin will chat with top curlers, get to know some of Canada’s biggest curling fans and break down the complicated road to Beijing. They’ll have the stories, highlights and even a little friendly banter, beginning Tuesday, Dec. 28 at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT.”
The tournament will also be featured on episodes of the digital series on Friday, Dec. 31 at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT, Saturday, Jan. 1 at 7:30 p.m. ET/4:30 p.m. PT and Sunday, Jan. 2 at 5 p.m. ET/2 p.m. PT.
