CBC SPORTS TODAY announced it will have exclusive broadcast coverage of the 2021 Skate Canada International starting Oct. 30 at 3 p.m. ET/12 p.m. PT on CBC TV and CBC Gem.
The event itself runs from Oct. 29-31 and is taking place in Vancouver at the Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre.
“The competition consists of nine events, including the men’s, women’s and pair’s short and free programs, the ice dancing rhythm and free dances, and the Exhibition Gala,” a press release says. There will be 18 skaters representing Canada.
Live streams of all competitions will be available at cbcsports.ca/figureskating and on the CBC Sports app (a complete streaming and broadcast schedule is available here).
CBC is covering the event as part of its show Road to the Olympic Games. Coverage will be led by the show’s hosts Andi Petrillo and Scott Russell.
“Petrillo will be joined in Vancouver by three-time Olympic medallist Patrick Chan. Brenda Irving and four-time World Champion Kurt Browning will provide play-by-play and analysis, respectively, and will be joined by three-time Olympic medallist Meagan Duhamel for pairs events, and five-time Olympic medallist Tessa Virtue for further analysis of the ice dancing program,” the press release reads.
The 2021 Skate Canada International is part of the 2021-22 Grand Prix Series – a series of six international senior invitational events.
CBC also announced the event will coincide with the return of That Figure Skating Show. On the upcoming season hosts Asher Hill and Dylan Moscovitch cover all Grand Prix events, leading to the 2022 Beijing Olympics.
“The season kicks off on Sunday on the CBC Sports YouTube page, where audiences can get all the news, highlights, insider-knowledge, hot takes and comedic analysis that only Hill and Moscovitch can deliver.”
