
TORONTO – CBC Sports is teaming up with sports streaming service DAZN Canada on Canadian broadcast coverage of the XXI Commonwealth Games on Australia’s Gold Coast from April 4 – 15.
CBC will have live coverage of the Opening and Closing Ceremonies and highlights of select events and performances by Canada’s athletes and para-athletes, from Brisbane, Cairns and Townsville. Through a sub-licensing agreement with the public broadcaster, DAZN Canada will stream more than 400 hours of live event coverage and competitions from the Gold Coast exclusively on its platform.
The XXI Commonwealth Games will welcome more than 6,600 athletes and team officials from 70 Commonwealth nations and territories, and will feature the largest integrated sports program in Commonwealth Games history, comprising 18 sports and seven para-sports. New for these Games are the additions of beach volleyball, para triathlon and women’s rugby sevens as well as the return of basketball.
Commonwealth Games Canada will send 283 athletes to the Games, including 10 Olympic Games medallists and four Paralympic Games medallists from Rio 2016.
