CBC renews Ghosting with Luke Hutchie and Matthew Finlan for second season

CBC announced Wednesday it has greenlit a second season of the unscripted paranormal comedy series Ghosting with Luke Hutchie and Matthew Finlan from Blue Ant Studios in association with Luke Hutchie Productions.

Currently in production and slated to premiere in winter 2025 on CBC Gem, the new season follows the series’ creators Hutchie (EZRA) and Finlan (Orphan: First KillEZRA) as they take the show on the road, expanding their quest cross-country to explore some of Canada’s most haunted places.

“Joined by celebrity guests, the amateur ghost-wrangling duo will traverse the country, investigating stories of paranormal activity in Ontario, British Columbia, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia and the Yukon Territory. Their mission remains unchanged: to uncover the truth behind local ghostlore and deliver a verdict of ‘haunted’ or ‘not haunted’,” a CBC press release says.

In addition to being creators and stars of the CBC original series, Hutchie and Finlan are executive producers. For Blue Ant Studios, executive producers are Matthew Hornburg, Mark Bishop, Donna Luke and Jennifer Harkness. Mitch Burman (Freak EncountersBrother vs Brother) joins as showrunner and series producer. Jonathan Jude serves as senior story producer for the season, Nikki Chow is the series director, and Brooke Yerxa is the associate producer.

Blue Ant Studios holds international distribution rights for the series.

“Season one of Ghosting was a captivating and innovative take on the paranormal genre that left viewers craving more,” Hornburg, co-president of Blue Ant Studios, said in the press release. “In season two, viewers can expect to see a wider variety of locations across Canada with increased tension and scarier moments, but the series will still maintain the humour and liveliness that Luke, Matthew and their celebrity friends bring to the show.”

“Luke and Matthew bring a new twist to paranormal entertainment with their spirited and spooky investigations,” said Jennifer Dettman, executive director of unscripted content at CBC. “We look forward to seeing them explore ghostly mysteries in more Canadian communities as we expand the show, and travel it across the country in season two.”
