CBC/Radio-Canada hires senior director of digital advertising

MONTREAL — CBC & Radio-Canada Media Solutions announced today the appointment of Julie Kerr to the newly created role of senior director of digital ad product and revenue management, effective today.

Fluently bilingual, Kerr is based in Montreal, but she “will spend significant time in the Toronto market as well,” according to a CBC/Radio-Canada press release.

“Julie comes to CBC/Radio-Canada with an impressive track record on both the agency (GroupM, Glassroom) and media (Rogers Media, TC Media, Bell Media) side of the business,” the release reads.

Most recently, Kerr was vice-president of strategy and development for the Quebec market at marketing agency GroupM. Previously, she was media director at Glassroom’s Toronto office, director of digital business development at Rogers Communications, national sales director of consumer solutions at TC Media, and manager of media sales at Bell Sympatico, according to her LinkedIn profile.

“I’m proud to welcome Julie to our team. Her arrival will allow us to position CBC & Radio-Canada Media Solutions as an essential business partner in the Canadian digital media landscape,” said Hisham Ghostine, executive director of digital monetization, sales, marketing and Olympics at CBC/Radio-Canada, in the press release.

“Julie is an accomplished strategist and I’m confident that her expertise and vision will provide a solid foundation on which to build and execute our digital strategy.”

In her new position, Kerr “will play a key role in defining and delivering the creative strategy for CBC and Radio-Canada’s digital advertising products to keep pace with the market and the expectations of agencies and advertisers who invest in CBC and Radio-Canada platforms,” the press release says.

“Joining the ranks of CBC/Radio-Canada is a huge privilege for me,” said Kerr. “I look forward to helping grow the national public broadcaster’s presence in the digital advertising space.”

Kerr has a certificate in global innovation management from Boston’s Global Innovation Management Institute and graduated with a Global Executive MBA from University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management in 2020.
