WINDSOR, ON – CBC announced today that its CBC News: Windsor at 6 newscast will be expanding to 90 minutes in September 2013, however it is cancelling the station’s nightly 10-minute news format at 11 p.m. in order to support the expanded news show.
“We’re pleased to offer an expanded news format as part of our commitment to CBC’s 2015 strategic plan,” said Shawna Kelly, managing editor of CBC Windsor, in a release. “CBC Windsor is looking forward to providing more local services aimed at deepening our community connections.”
CBC says the expanded newscast, in addition to the current radio and digital offerings, will deliver more breaking news and original local journalism to the Windsor community.
Resources will be “redirected” to support the new earlier, expanded local news offering. The new 90-minute format brings the Windsor nightly supper hour newscast in line with many other regional CBC newscasts.
CBC News: Windsor at 6 and CBC News: Windsor at 11 will continue in its current format throughout the summer season, on CBC Television Channel 9, Cogeco Cable 10, Bell 587 and live-streamed at CBC.ca/Windsor.
