TORONTO – Principal photography is underway for the second season of the CBC/Netflix series Anne (With An E).

The series, currently shooting in various locations in Ontario and PEI, will return for 10 episodes on CBC in Canada and in markets outside of Canada on Netflix in 2018.

Inspired by the timeless Anne of Green Gables young adult novel by Lucy Maud Montgomery, the re-imagined Anne series stars Amybeth McNulty as the young heroine, as well as Geraldine James (Marilla Cuthbert), R.H. Thomson (Matthew Cuthbert), Corrine Koslo (Rachel Lynde), Dalila Bela (Diana Barry), Aymeric Jett Montaz (Jerry Baynard), Lucas Jade Zumann (Gilbert Blythe) and Kyla Matthews (Ruby Gillis).  This season will also introduce audiences to new characters including Dalmar Abuzeid (Sebastian) and Cory Grüter-Andrew (Cole).

A CBC and Netflix original series, Anne (With An E) is produced by Northwood Entertainment and created by Moira Walley-Beckett.

“Canada has fallen in love with Anne all over again with this remarkable series full of beauty, humour, heartbreak and the poignant portrayal of finding a place to belong,' said Sally Catto, general manager, programming, CBC, in the news release.  “We can't wait to share Season 2 with CBC audiences next year and showcase Anne's incredible talent and creative team to the entire world once again in partnership with Netflix.”

"We are thrilled to not only return to Green Gables for more adventures of the effervescent and beloved Anne Shirley, but also to bring the stunning landscapes of Prince Edward Island and Ontario to Netflix members around the world", added Elizabeth Bradley, Netflix vice-president of content.
