CBC Kids, Lopii Productions partner on new series for preschoolers

TORONTO – Lopii Productions, a Canadian kids’ production company founded by twins Georgina and Rennata López, announced today they have partnered with CBC Kids on the new series Bestest Day Ever With My Best Friend!.

Bestest Day Ever (20 x 7-minute) is a “live-action order set to launch in 2023” and Lopii Productions’ sixth original series, a press release says.

Made for preschoolers, the series “celebrates the cherished relationships children have with their pets and gives them the opportunity to say thank you to that fuzzy, furry, scaly, slithering or feathered friend in an extra big way,” the release explains.

“In each adorable episode, we meet an owner and their well-deserving pet, with the help of our host, the owners will come up with an extra special way to say thank you as well as learn some tips to be able to do something nice for their pet when they are back home. Packed with fun, pet kisses, surprises and cuteness, Bestest Day Ever With My Best Friend! is a show that kids will watch with their whole family (and their pets too!).”

Lopii Productions will look for children, siblings and families ages 4-12 with pets to be part of the show, which will film in January and February 2023. (Those interested can email casting@lopiiproductions.com).

Bestest Day Ever with My Best Friends! was one of 12 English-language projects selected to receive funding from the Canada Media Fund’s Pilot Program for Racialized Communities and the only children’s project of the 19 total that received funding.

“We are super excited to work with CBC for the first time,” said Lopii co-founder and series producer, Rennata Lopez, in the release. “They are a Canadian broadcasting institution and we are honoured to be a part of their national line-up. I can’t wait to start meeting kids and their adorable pets for this heartwarming special series.”

“We are thrilled to partner with the Lopii sisters on this new fun and heartwarming CBC Kids original preschool series,” said Swin Chang, executive in charge of production and development, CBC Kids. “Anyone who has had a childhood pet knows the special bond that kids have with their animals and the enormous benefits to their physical and socio-emotional well-being. We hope this series highlights the importance of kindness and nurturing in a joyful celebration of those often-overlooked family members.”
