CBC gets more entertaining with new portal


TORONTO – CBC has launched an on-line entertainment destination called CBC Live in order to connect Canadians with high-profile personalities and happenings.

The entertainment portal debuts Wednesday night for the 26th Annual Gemini Awards where the live stream will feature digital host Tom Green in the ‘Tom Green Room’ beginning at 7 pm ET. It will also be available as the on-line companion for the television broadcast which begins at 8 pm (8:30 NT).

CBC Live will also cover other events ranging from the Toronto International Film Festival to the CCMA Awards and the national Culture Days celebrations, plus aims to be the go-to site for the inside scoop on the hottest fall television programming, film premieres and music events.

"At CBC, we’re focused on celebrating the very best in Canadian talent," said Kirstine Stewart, EVP of English Services, in the announcement. "CBC Live is a great way for Canadians to connect to the entertainment scene in our country online – easy access for the entertainment lover anywhere in Canada."
