VANCOUVER – CBC/Radio-Canada, which marks its 75th Anniversary this year, will also celebrate Culture Days this fall with open houses and other public events planned across the country.
The second annual event is part of the public broadcaster’s plan to strengthen its national presence. To kick it off, CBC will host CBC Live! from Vancouver on September 23 featuring a full day of live appearances, and network and local broadcasts of some of CBC’s most popular radio and television programs. Many CBC/Radio-Canada programs across all platforms will also present culture-themed programming for the entire week leading up to Culture Days celebrations.
On October 1st, CBC/Radio-Canada is promising to open the doors of many of its facilities across the country to celebrate 75 years of the art of broadcasting, giving Canadians a chance to meet their favourite CBC and Radio-Canada personalities and provide audiences with a hands-on interactive experience.
"As one of Canada’s largest cultural organizations, and as the national broadcast partner, CBC/Radio-Canada is proud to support Culture Days," said president and CEO Hubert T. Lacroix, in the announcement. "The 75th anniversary celebrations are a great way to recognize the unique role that the public broadcaster plays in the life of Canadians. The events that CBC/Radio-Canada will be organising on October 1st as part of Culture Days will be a great way to get together and celebrate the arts and culture in our lives."
