TORONTO — CBC/Radio-Canada today announced the programming details and broadcast team for its upcoming coverage of the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games, which will take place from Friday, Feb. 4 to Sunday, Feb. 20.
CBC will provide more than 2,400 hours of live content across the public broadcaster’s multiple platforms, according to a press release.
“In addition to TV broadcasts on CBC and partner networks TSN and Sportsnet, audiences will be able to stay connected and informed via CBC Gem, the CBC Sports app for iOS and Android devices and CBC’s Beijing 2022 website, which will feature live-streaming of the broadcasts, as well as non-TV events,” the release says.
CBC’s dedicated Beijing 2022 site will provide full event schedules, results, athlete bios and features, and daily updates. In addition, CBC Sports will provide exclusive coverage including in-depth reports, highlights, digital series and on-demand replays of the biggest moments and events from the Winter Games.
Broadcasting live from CBC in Toronto for 23 hours of daily coverage throughout the Games, CBC’s Beijing 2022 broadcast team will include studio hosts Scott Russell (Olympic Winter Games Primetime, 7 p.m.-12 a.m. ET), Andi Petrillo (Olympic Winter Games Morning, 6 a.m.-12 p.m. ET), Perdita Felicien and Andrew Chang (Beijing Today, 1 p.m.-6 p.m. ET), and Harnarayan Singh, P.J. Stock and Hailey Salvian (the Samsung Hockey Show, 12 p.m.-1 p.m. ET).
CBC’s Olympic Winter Games Overnight (12 a.m.-6 a.m. ET) will provide uninterrupted coverage of events as they unfold live in Beijing.
“The current state of the pandemic has Canadians focused on their health and well-being. Our team at CBC is just as concerned about this as we prepare to produce our second Olympics in six months under pandemic conditions,” said Chris Wilson, executive director of sports and Olympics at CBC, in the press release.
“Our number one priority is keeping our team safe and healthy, whether they be in Beijing, Toronto or Montreal,” Wilson added.
“That said, we also believe that the Olympic Winter Games can once again provide some relief and escape for Canadians and unite the country around the performances of Team Canada just as Tokyo did last summer. With this in mind, we’re offering around-the-clock coverage of Beijing 2022 across all of our platforms, giving audiences the choice to watch and follow however, wherever and whenever they want.”
