
TORONTO — CBC and Radio-Canada Distribution, the public broadcaster’s international content licensing arm, today announced its 2021 spring selection of titles, including the award-winning documentary Sing Me A Lullaby (1 x 29 minutes; Golden Nugget Productions) and the now-available Wild Canadian Weather (4 x 52 min, 4K; River Road Films).
Making its announcement ahead of Digital MIPTV (which is running as a five-day virtual conference and market from April 12 to 16), CBC and Radio-Canada Distribution says its new releases will be available in April.
The distributor’s latest scripted selection includes Les Mecs (season one, 10 x 30 min; season two in production; produced by Guillaume Lespérance), a single-camera comedy about four male friends in their 50s, struggling to stay relevant in today’s life, from Jacques Davidts, creator of the cult series Les Parent and screenwriter of Denis Villeneuve’s film Polytechnique.
New children’s programming in the distributor’s slate includes: Do Not Enter! (26 x 22 min; Christal Films), a live-action comedy based on Caroline Héroux’s bestselling Défense d’entrer! book series, with more than 350,000 copies sold in Canada and Europe; and About Sex (35 x 7 min; Echo Média), a new series for teenagers 14+, which won the best mixed-media series award at the 2021 Kidscreen Awards.
