TORONTO – Suzanne Carpenter will be the general manager for Corus Radio Toronto, effective January 3, 2011.
Most recently, Carpenter was VP and GM of Corus Radio Eastern Ontario, CHEX TV and CKWS TV, and prior to that, she was GM of Corus Radio Hamilton. In her new role, Carpenter will provide leadership and direction to the company’s three stations in Toronto – Q107, 102.1 the Edge and AM640.
“With Suzanne’s track record of success at Corus, her leadership will be an asset to the Toronto cluster as we continue to strengthen our market position,” said Chris Pandoff, EVP and president of Corus Radio, in the announcement. “Given her strong instinct for talent and programming, we are confident that Suzanne (right) will have the same positive impact in Toronto as she has had in our other markets.”

In related news, Corus announced a new 10-year agreement between radio personality John Derringer and Toronto’s classic rock station, Q107. With this long-term agreement, virtually unheard of in radio, Derringer will continue as the morning drive host of Derringer in the Morning.
"As one of Toronto’s most recognized voices, John has put his own unique stamp on morning radio in this city. He exemplifies the calibre of exceptional talent and programming that Corus is committed to delivering to its audiences," Pandoff continued. "John’s extraordinary ability to connect with listeners has helped solidify Q107’s dominant position in the marketplace."
Derringer has been named Radio Personality of the Year nine times by Canadian Music Week and Favourite Toronto Radio Personality by the Toronto Sun, Eye Weekly and Now Magazine. Q107 (CILQ-FM) is Toronto’s legendary classic rock station and the most listened to rock station in Canada.
