TORONTO – Canwest has announced it will contribute $700,000 to Canadian Women in Communications (CWC) in support of their mentorship program.
The donation of $100,000 each year for the next seven years is part of the Canwest/Alliance Atlantis Benefits package. Called the Canwest Mentorship Program, the initiative is open only to CWC members and “matches high-potential women with senior members of the communications industry for one year of personalized coaching, counsel and leadership development”, the company announced.
“There is a real focus at Canwest to empower and advance women in our industry, and we’re proud to be making this long-term investment to not only support women in their current roles, but also to help them build a path towards future opportunities,” says Barb Williams, executive vice-president, content, Canwest Broadcasting.
