TORONTO – CanWest has ordered 14 new Canadian productions as it rounds out its 2010/11 broadcast season programming.

The network said Friday that its “record” number of scripted original projects for Global and Showcase includes seven one-hour dramas – Blackstone, Endgame, XIII, King, Combat Hospital, Shattered and Lost Girl; four half-hour comedies – The Kenny Hotz Television Program (Working Title), Single White Spenny, Untitled Belleville Brothers Project and The Drunk and on Drugs Happy Funtime Hour; plus three back-door pilots – Befriend & Betray, Jack of Diamonds and Rave Squad.

"Our slate of Canadian scripted programming is more vibrant and robust than ever," said Christine Shipton, SVP of drama and factual content, in the press release. "We have enlisted some of Canada’s most accomplished writers and producers for these projects and are thrilled to be giving them the opportunity to flex their creative muscles, no doubt resulting in a new crop of stellar original programming for Global and Showcase."
