TORONTO – Brian Cuff will be joining Canwest Broadcasting on September 29th as its new vice-president, distribution strategy.
“Brian will work to establish our strategic distribution plans, then lead negotiations with the cable/satellite/telephone companies,” said the Canwest memo notifying employees of the change.
He replaces Chris Fuoco, who left the company last month.
A Newfoundland native and lawyer by training, Cuff has a over decade of experience in the Canadian media industry. He was part of the team that launched Star Choice, negotiating affiliation agreements with Canadian and U.S. programming services. He then moved to Astral, spending several years as director of business and legal affairs where his role included negotiating distribution agreements for many of their television networks.
In 2003, Cuff went back to school and obtained his MBA and since graduating, has been a strategy consultant with SECOR Consulting, a Canadian-based international management consultancy, where his primary focus has been on media and entertainment industries spanning television, film, digital media and mobile.
