Canal Vie announces new home reno show with Mélissa Bédard and her family

MONTREAL — Bell Media’s Canal Vie announced today a new renovation-decoration magazine show, Ma première maison (My First House), which follows Quebec singer and actress Mélissa Bédard (above, right) and her family as they move into their first house.

“With her husband Karl Fortier and their six children, the artist has no shortage of challenges for this great stage of life,” reads an English translation of Bell Media’s French press release.

“Now that the house is purchased, it must be transformed into a family nest where everyone will have a space in their image. To achieve this, Mélissa surrounds herself with a team of experts — general contractor Hugo Champagne, interior designer Antoine Laurier and her carpenter-joiner friend Joanie Chevalier — in order to adapt the entire house to the needs of her family,” the English translation says.

“With her intense and sparkling personality, Mélissa will share with the public all the stages of this great experience, without filters or taboos.”

Comprised of 10 half-hour episodes, Ma première maison is being produced by Iprod Média in collaboration with Bell Media. The series will air on Canal Vie this fall.

“Canal Vie viewers will easily find a part of their dreams or their own experiences in Mélissa’s project,” said Suzane Landry, vice-president of content development, programming and information at Bell Media, in the translated release. “Becoming a homeowner for the first time is a big step in life that comes with its share of challenges. We are happy to be able to participate in this family adventure.”
