TORONTO –Eureka! Media, operator of AeroCinema, Canada’s English language SVOD service devoted to the legacy of flight, last week announced it purchased France’s aviation channel Aerostar TV.

The French language channel is distributed by France’s three major telephony services Orange, Free and Bouygues, reaching a user base of over 16 million, with a wide range of programming ranging from adventure sports flying to historical aviation, says the press release. Financial details were not disclosed.

AeroCinema “now offers aviation enthusiasts a catalog of over 400 original HD titles on aviation history, marrying state of the art animation with re-enactment and archival film to bring the history of aviation in all its facets alive,” says the press release.

“This is a big step forward for both companies, as our goals have ultimately been to reach a worldwide audience across all markets and platforms.  Aviation and space are not only growth industries, but represent one of the finest of human endeavors,” said Phil Osborn, Eureka! Media’s owner.

Paul Russell, SVP European Affairs for AeroCinema and co-founder of production company Millstream Films & Media, has been appointed president of Aerostar TV. Bernard Chabbert, one of Aerostar TV’s founders and a celebrity in French aviation, joins the company’s new board.
