Canadian Spectrum Summit to examine impact of 700 MHz auction

TORONTO – Canadian Spectrum Policy Research is hosting a special one-day summit that will bring Canadian and international experts together to discuss the Canadian 700 MHz auction and the future of spectrum management.

The Canadian Spectrum Summit will be held May 2, 2013 at the Ted Rogers School of Management at Ryerson University, 55 Dundas St. West in Toronto. The one-day event, structured around three panel discussions with time following each for audience engagement, intends to explore what organizers call a “critical moment” in the development of Canada’s digital infrastructure.

Some of the issues to be discussed include: what criteria should be used to judge whether the upcoming 700 MHz auction is a success or failure; as well as a look at how relaxed foreign ownership rules might possibly affect competition in Canada's wireless sector.

  • Bernard Lord, president and CEO of the Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association
