Canadian Satellite Radio appoints French PD

MONTREAL – Canadian Satellite Radio has appointed Pierre Borduas as program and music director for its French-language stations, which will be broadcast from CSR’s Montreal studios.

Borduas was most recently music director at MusiquePlus and MusiMax, and was years ago the assistant program director at CKOI 96.9 FM in Montreal.

“We are especially pleased to have recruited a professional of such calibre who is well known as an ardent promoter of new French artists locally,” says André Di Cesare, CSR’s director in charge of industry and francophone artist relations. “He brings enormous added-value to French satellite radio through his incredible talent for discovering new and promising artists.”

CSR has pledged to invest $35 million throughout its first licensing term to support Canadian artists, half of which will go to francophone artists, including nearly $7 million to MusicACTION and ADISQ.

As part of its condition of licence, CSR will have to broadcast at least 25% of its Canadian-based channels in French.
