Canadian Music Network suspends publication for a month

TORONTO – Canadian Music Network this week sent out an e-mail letter to subscribers saying it is re-examining the business and suspending publication for four weeks.

Specifically, it’s using January to “continue discussions begun last year with industry leaders regarding the ever changing world of the Canadian music business and how best your industry trade magazine can continue to serve it,” says the letter, quoting co publisher, Donald Tarlton.

“The business model of how record companies market and promote and the areas in which radio, retail and television are focused are constantly evolving and changing. We will be consulting with the industry to research ways and means to develop future strategies for Canadian Music Network,” he added.

Subscriptions will be extended by four weeks and charts are still available on its web site www.canadianmusicnetwork.com.

The company’s sister publication, Canadian Entertainment Network, which covers the home entertainment industry (DVD releases and games), will continue to publish monthly “and during the interim period we will be looking to include additional music content in future issues in print and online,” adds the letter.
