Canadian Music and Broadcast Industry Awards voting now open

TORONTO – If you’re in the broadcast, recording, retail or live concert arms of the music industry; it’s time to vote for the 2013 Canadian Music & Broadcast Industry Awards at Canadian Music Week (CMW). Make yourself heard and register to vote today. Voting deadline is Friday, March 1.

CMW has also announced that Amanda Logan, radio announcer and assistant music director at CHUM FM in Toronto, is the recipient of the 2013 Allan Waters Young Broadcaster of the Year Award in Memory of Steve Young. The award will be presented during the Radio Consultants Round Table Breakfast on Friday March 22, 2013 at 9:00 a.m., Toronto Marriott Downtown Eaton Centre Hotel.

The Steve Young Award was created in the memory of its namesake to honour a rising star in the Canadian broadcast industry. Steve Young was among the most popular of those who consult radio, and was always prepared to advise and mentor young broadcasters. This award reflects the support he offered so many. The recipient is chosen by "The Friends of Steve Young", a Canadian broadcaster committee, and is awarded annually to a broadcaster under the age of thirty.

To participate in the Radio Consultants Round Table Breakfast, attendees must be registered delegates of Canadian Music Week.

CMW has also announced that Betty Selin of Sun FM in Vernon, BC, is the recipient of the 2013 Rosalie Award. The award will be presented during the Canadian Music & Broadcast Industry Awards gala dinner on Thursday March 21, 2013 at 7:00 p.m., at the Kool Haus in Toronto.

Inspired by radio's legendary Rosalie Trombley, The Rosalie Award honours Canadian women in broadcasting who have blazed new trails. Between 1967 and 1984, Trombley was one of the most powerful radio programmers in North America. A straight-talking, no nonsense woman with an unfailing ear for picking hit songs, she was the Music Director of the legendary Big 8, CKLW-AM, in Windsor/Detroit.
