Canadian film and TV app-maker Mobovivo expands with Globo TV, Alliance Films


NEW YORK and TORONTO – Brazilian television channel Globo TV, the worlds’ second-largest TV network, and Mobovivo, a leader in online video mobilization, management and monetization, recently launched a second screen companion app for the Brazilian telenovela, Suburbia, a show which premiered with a 32% share, while reporting heavy social network activity.

The Suburbia companion experience was developed using Mobovivo’s StayTuned Companion App Platform. The platform interacts with TV programming and advertising in real-time, syncing TV viewing to smartphones and tablets. Smartphone users that see the ads on TV or in the newspaper can use their smartphone camera to automatically unlock bonus content from the show by capturing and sharing images within the ads.

“Everything we know about viewing habits tells us that, more and more, audiences worldwide are using smartphones and tablets while watching TV," says Mobovivo founder and CEO, Trevor Doerksen. “Globo TV and broadcasters everywhere realize the value of engaging viewers on second screens with brands and programming.”

Mobovivo also announced it has formed a partnership with Alliance Films to leverage Mobovivo’s web and video app platform to bring movies distributed by Alliance to second screen devices including iPads, smartphones, connected TVs, and computers.

Alliance Films, the distributor of top Hollywood movies such as Hunger Games and Blindness, is now using Mobovivo’s technology to deliver films to audiences alongside leading consumer brands. Consumer product packaging for beer, cereal and shampoo are labeled with redemption codes for online movie rentals, thereby increasing viewership, fan engagement and revenue, says the company.
