
MONTREAL – Canadian universities and colleges in every province and territory have pledged to help grow the campus conversation about mental health in support of Bell Let's Talk Day on January 30.
More than 340 events at 205 schools will invite students to be part of the world's biggest mental health conversation while learning more about resources available to them on campus through events including guest speakers, conferences, information kiosks, and varsity and collegiate athletic events.
"With more than 200 universities and colleges part of the campaign this year, it's clear that post-secondary students in Canada have taken a real leadership role in the mental health conversation," said Bell Let's Talk chair Mary Deacon, in the news release. "These hundreds of student-led initiatives are growing awareness of both the impact of mental illness and the resources students can turn to for support, helping to ensure a psychologically healthy and safe environment on campus."
On January 30, Bell will donate 5 cents to Canadian mental health programs for each of these interactions at no extra cost to participants:
– Text and talk: Every text message, mobile and long distance call made by Bell wireless and phone customers;
– Twitter: Every tweet and retweet using #BellLetsTalk and Bell Let's Talk Day video view;
– Facebook: Every view of the Bell Let's Talk Day video at Facebook.com/BellLetsTalk and use of the Bell Let's Talk frame;
– Instagram: Every Bell Let's Talk Day video view; and
– Snapchat: Every use of the Bell Let's Talk geofilter and video view.
