TORONTO – Corus Entertainment has entered into new origination deals with a number of Canadian broadcasters to transmit their broadcast feeds from its state-of-the-art media and broadcast facility Corus Quay.

Building on the company’s strategy to leverage Corus Quay’s broadcast capabilities with external partners, the origination of DHX Media’s television services Disney XD and Disney Junior (English and French) went live Thursday morning from Corus Quay, joining DHX Media’s Family Channel which already originates from this facility.  Corus also recently partnered with FEVA TV to launch their specialty service, and will also launch Groupe Média TFO’s broadcast feed later this year.

“Corus Quay’s unmatched technical capabilities and adaptability, as well as our expertise in broadcasting, provide broadcasters with a turnkey service to launch their services from our hub,” said Scott Dyer, Corus’ executive vice president and chief technology officer, in the news release.  “By leveraging the scalability of Corus Quay, we plan to expand this part of our business with additional opportunities currently in the works.”

In addition to providing origination services for third party broadcasters, Corus also originates 24 of its own networks from Corus Quay, including YTV, Treehouse, Teletoon, Nickelodeon (Canada), Cartoon Network, W Network, CosmoTV, Movie Central, HBO Canada, OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network, CMT and ABC Spark.
