BRIGHTON, UK – A Canadian product called iButtonToWiFi, which enables voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) calls from any telephone handset, will be sold in the United Kingdom by Global Digital Broadcast (GDB).
The iButtonToWiFi product was pioneered by Steve Lipman, president of Canada-based WorldTel and CEO of 1ButtonToWiFi. The product allows any handset to work like a WiFi telephone, but without its limitations by allowing customers to make Internet telephone calls from anywhere in the world, from any telephone handset or device using VoIP.
“There are 3.25 billion mobile ‘phones in use, today, which can all use 1ButtonToWiFi; and this cellular/VoIP market is virtually untapped. This is the only VoIP product in existence which joins all these devices, in addition to home telephones and PDAs, to the Internet,” said Lipman.
The WiFi enablement will enable the phone to operate using an existing high-speed Internet connection, and thus use of 1ButtonToWiFi can result in significant cost savings on long-distance and international calls.
“1ButtonToWiFi lets users make high-speed Internet telephone calls, without the need to be anywhere near an Internet connection. You can even use it in a moving vehicle. The device combines computer chips developed in both Silicon Valley and Taiwan, in order to produce the ‘digital/analog/digital technology which makes it all possible,” added Lipman.
GBD has obtained the exclusive UK rights to the patented, advanced-telephony application. It will be offered over GBD’s PlayTV UK network, which already supports the company’s IPTV, telephone and broadband triple-play package.
