Canada’s BirdDog Media collaborates with UK’s Drive, South Africa’s Ahoy Films on new series

TORONTO — Canadian independent production house BirdDog Media Ventures announced today it has teamed up with London, UK-based Drive Media Rights and South Africa’s Ahoy Films to produce and distribute a new eight-part series, Africa Wild Vet, for delivery in the second quarter of 2022.

The series is being shot on location in and around the Greater Kruger National Park in South Africa and “follows the action-packed adventures of Dr. Chris Bossie Boshoff (above) and his assistant Yke Osmers as they provide veterinary services in the wild to some of the largest and most dangerous animals on earth,” reads the press release.

“Whether it’s emergency treatment, anti-poaching measures, or conservation management, a day’s work can bring darting an escaped cheetah, collaring an elephant for research or treating a rhino that survived a poaching attempt; all in a wildlife preserve the size of New Jersey.”

BirdDog Media Ventures executive chair Clark Bunting and president and CEO Stephen Ellis are executive producing the series. Ahoy Films president Dan Odendaal is the series producer.

Drive Media Rights, led by co-managing directors Lilla Hurst and Ben Barrett, will be sourcing international pre-sales and handling international distribution, the release says.

“Facing danger to help nature’s dangerous is irresistible viewing that we’re excited to bring to the screen and worldwide markets with Ahoy and Drive,” said Ellis, in the press release.

“Drive are delighted to be collaborating with the formidable team that is BirdDog and very much hope that this is the first of many future projects together,” said Hurst.
