Canada ranks tenth in fixed broadband subscriptions: OECD report

PARIS – Canada ranks tenth out of 31 OECD countries for total fixed (wired) broadband subscriptions, and 27th out of 29 for total wireless broadband subscriptions. A new report from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) issued Monday calculated that as of June 2010, Canada had approximately 10.14 million fixed and 357,000 wireless broadband subs.  The U.S., which ranked first in both counts, had 83.34 million fixed and 136.60 million wireless subscriptions, by comparison.The report said that the 295 million fixed broadband subscriptions in the OECD area as of June increased by 12 million from its December 2009 total of 283...
