Canada helps scientists break world record for data transfer speeds

VICTORIA – The University of Victoria was part of a test this week that saw scientists break the world record for data centre speeds. According to a BBC report, data was moved back and forth between the University of Victoria in British Columbia, and the Washington State Convention Centre in Seattle at a combined rate of 186Gbps (gigabits per second), breaking the previous record of 119Gbps set in 2009.
