
TORONTO – The stars and Canadian TV networks aligned Friday night with the people of Canada to support relief efforts in Haiti in Canada for Haiti.
More than $9.4 million had been raised as of 10:45 p.m. ET Friday, representing more than 91,930 individual donations. When matched by the federal government, the amount increases to $18.8 million.
Donations continue to be accepted tonight and through the weekend on the web at (www.CanadaForHaiti.com), by telephone (1.877.51.HAITI) or via text ("Aid" to 45678). Canadians can continue to make a difference by donating throughout the weekend.

Hosted by Cheryl Hickey, Ben Mulroney and George Stroumboulopoulos (right), the star-studded broadcast included electrifying live performances by Nelly Furtado, The Tragically Hip, K’naan and Metric.
Donations accepted during the broadcast go toward a coalition of Canadian NGOs comprised of Canadian Red Cross Society, Care Canada, Free the Children, Oxfam Canada, Oxfam Quebec, Plan Canada, Save the Children Canada, UNICEF Canada and World Vision Canada.
