Cameron Pictures names Karen Tsang as VP of creative affairs


Toronto-based independent production company Cameron Pictures Inc. (CPI) announced Monday it has appointed former Pier 21 Films executive Karen Tsang to the newly created role of vice president of creative affairs.

In this role, Tsang will oversee the creative pipeline of original scripted series, reporting to CPI co-founders and sister filmmakers Tassie and Amy Cameron. CPI is the award-winning prodco behind Law & Order Toronto: Criminal IntentMary Kills People and Pretty Hard Cases.

“Karen is so smart and she has a remarkable eye for developing standout stories and characters,” Tassie Cameron said in a press release. “Her creative expertise, strong relationship with writers, and leadership experience will be huge assets to us, as we continue to bring compelling series to life.”

Amy Cameron added: “Karen’s passion for creator-driven storytelling, her relationships with buyers, and her commitment to collaborating with some of Canada’s most exciting talent will be invaluable as we develop comedy and drama projects for Canadian and international audiences.”

“I have long admired Tassie and Amy’s passion for storytelling and the bold and engaging work they’ve created at Cameron Pictures,” Tsang said in a statement. “I’m honoured to join such an accomplished team and excited to champion fresh voices and ambitious projects for a global audience.”

Originally from Vancouver, Tsang most recently served as senior vice president of creative affairs at Toronto-based Pier 21 Films, where she led the creative development and production of the company’s scripted slate. While there, her credits included three seasons of the comedy series Run the Burbs (airing on CBC in Canada and on The CW and Hulu in the U.S.), as well as the debut seasons of Late Bloomer (Crave) and Don’t Even (Crave and APTN). Her projects at Pier 21 garnered a total of 24 Canadian Screen Award nominations in 2025 and a Rockie Award nomination.

Prior to Pier 21, Tsang worked for eight years at the CBC, most recently as executive in charge of production for comedy. In that role, she oversaw more than 150 episodes of original programming through the development and production stages, including the Rose D’Or and Rockie Award-winning Baroness Von Sketch Show, as well as TallBoyzMr. D and This Hour Has 22 Minutes.

CPI also announced Monday that Caledonia Brown has been promoted from co-producer to supervising producer and vice president of operations. She will continue to work across CPI’s projects from concept to broadcast, along with overseeing the daily operations of the company, according to CPI’s press release.
