CABLE-TEC 2011: TV services using HTML5 bring targeted opportunities; replace proprietary tech?

ATLANTA - Video content with in-band signaling, timed text tracks, and local ad insertion sounds pretty much like any traditional TV service. However, when it’s delivered as a multidimensional, multimedia web page using a standard web browser and basic Java-script, it shows the raw potential of readily available and mature technologies to fully displace the complex set of traditional protocols and methods to do exactly the same thing.
