CABLE-TEC 2010: Annual event draws over 8,200; next year’s dates announced

NEW ORLEANS – This year’s SCTE Cable-Tec Expo attracted more than 8,200 attendees and nearly 400 exhibitors to the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, organizers have announced.

While continued attention to travel resources and other industry and economic factors kept 2010 attendance close to 2009 levels, reaction to the New Orleans show was very positive.  Vendors said that they benefited from a steady flow of floor traffic and the accessibility to key decision makers and other influencers, while attendees were able to take advantage of the multi-faceted educational sessions that were focused on meeting the needs of today’s digital consumer.  Highlights included growth in international attendance, more than 60 new technology vendors, and the addition of more than 100 new SCTE members.

“Even in an extremely difficult business environment, SCTE Cable-Tec Expo 2010 showed the industry’s collective commitment to bringing problem solvers together to solve problems and meet consumers’ needs”, said Mark Dzuban, president and CEO of SCTE, in a statement. “We believe that the forward thinking that was evident in our panels, in our workshops, and on the show floor in New Orleans provided significant value by accelerating the industry’s ability to deliver new services.”

SCTE Cable-Tec Expo 2011 will be held November 16 – 18, 2011 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta.  In addition, the SCTE Canadian Summit 2011 is set for March 8 – 9 in Toronto.
