Cable-Tec 2006: Universal Electronics to supply CCSA members

CYPRESS, CA – Universal Electronics Inc. has signed an agreement to supply members of the Canadian Cable Systems Alliance with DVR-enabled universal remote controls.

Members can enjoy discounts on UEI’s 5-device Atlas DVR/PVRTM universal remote, which is designed specifically for use with advanced capability digital set-top boxes that support integrated digital video recording capabilities. With a database of infrared codes, the device can control almost all set-top boxes and brands of home entertainment devices in North America.

“Furthering our expansion efforts in Canada, we are pleased to partner with CCSA to supply them with UEI’s control technologies for their member companies,” says Paul Arling, chairman and chief executive officer for UEI. “Their wide reach in the Canadian market will ensure that our growth targets are met for that region. We look forward to providing their members with flexible, cost-effective devices to manage the growth in the digital television entertainment industry.”

CCSA’s director of purchasing, Sylvia Janssen, says the association has a rigorous process to choose vendors, which is led by its purchasing committee. “UEI’s long history and reputation for providing the highest quality remote controls to the cable and satellite market ensures that our members will have access to the best control products on the market,” she says.
